According to Southern Railway announcement, Train No.12688/22688 Dehradun / Chandigarh – Chennai Central weekly express is to be extended to run up to Madurai and Train No.12687/22687 Chennai Central – Dehradun / Chandigarh weekly express is to be extended to run from Madurai.
The extension in service will commence on 15.05.2013, Wednesday. Accordingly, Train No.12688/22688 Dehradun / Chandigarh – Chennai Central weekly express leaving Dehradun / Chandigarh on 13.05.2013, Monday and arriving Chennai Central on 15.05.2013, Wednesday will be extended to Madurai. In the return direction too, the extended Train No.12687/22687 Madurai – Dehradun / Chandigarh weekly express will commence its services on 15.05.2013, Wednesday. Friday, 10 May 2013

ADVANCE RESERVATION PERIOD REDUCED FROM 120 TO 60 DAYS
The Ministry of Railways has decided that the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) for booking reserved train tickets will be reduced from the existing 120 days to 60 days (excluding the date of journey) w.e.f. 01st May, 2013. The details are as below:
(i) With effect from 01.05.2013, the Advance Reservation Period will be of 60 days (excluding the date of journey) and booking will be done accordingly. However, all the bookings done upto 30.04.2013 under the ARP of 120 days will remain intact.
(ii) Cancellation of the booking made beyond the ARP of 60 days will, however, be permitted. (iii) There will be no change in the case of certain day time express trains like Taj express, Gomti express etc. where lower time limits for advance reservations are at present in force.
(iv) There will also be no change in the case of limit of 360 days for foreign tourists.
MELMARUVATHUR – VILLUPURAM passenger trains cancelled from 27.04.2013 to 30.06.2013
Due to line block in connection with engineering works between Tozhuppedu - Olakkur in Chengalpattu – Villupuram section, Train No.66045 Melmaruvathur – Villupuram passenger and Train No.66046 Villupuram – Melmaruvathur passenger will be cancelled from 27.04.2013 to 30.06.2013 .
Double-decker train arrives
The double-decker train, with a mini-pantry in every coach, can reach a maximum speed of 160 km per hour and will take six hours to reach Bangalore from Chennai
SCHEDULE | The train will leave Chennai at 7.25am and reach Bangalore at 1.30pm; will leave Bangalore at 2.40pm and arrive at Chennai Central at 8.45pm STOPS | The train will stop at Perambur (onward only), Arakkonam, Katpadi, Ambur, Jolarpet, Bangarapet, Krishnarajapuram and Bangalore Cantonment.
